Fall Fear Challenge
October is here, and stores are filled with aisles of costumes and Halloween candy. Right now, a lot of people are thinking about what they will be for Halloween. Television networks are playing movies like Hocus Pocus, The Nightmare Before Christmas, and Harry Potter. People are also carving pumpkins, and enjoying the change in a season. Children are especially excited about Halloween, As we get older, we grow and our thoughts change. Things that scared us in the past don’t scare us anymore. When we’re young many of us are scared of the dark, or monsters that might be under the bed. As we grow up we trade our fears for new ones.
When we’re older we are afraid of things like failure, rejection, and commitment. We are all unique, but many of us struggle with the similar fears. Some have harder time dealing with this fear, and it is for that reason that I want to challenge you to sit down and think about what scares you most. Be honest with yourself. Get of piece of paper, and ask yourself the following questions:
1. Where did this fear came from?.
a. What is the root of your fear?
2. Is this fear controlling me?
a. How much weight do I give this fear?
Make a decision to face your fear head on. If you are afraid of failure, or rejection, or commitment, or something else be willing to make every effort to tackle this head on. Keep this piece of paper in a place that has high visibility. Confide in people you love and trust, and ask them to help you as you work to rid yourself of fear. Ask them to help you by holding you accountable as you take on this challenge. I know this is easier said than done, but I can assure you that you will be happier when you have faced your fears.
